About
NIFTA field target shooters regularly attend the Mid Ulster Air-RifleClub due to its excellent standard of facilities and friendly, sociable atmosphere.
Many members of the Mid Ulster Air-Rifle Club have shown their precision and skill at national and international competitions. The club has given them the opportunity to improve their hunting marksmanship and shoot accurately under fierce competition. Alternatively, the club also caters for those who just want a bit of fun, among a gathering of energetic and interesting people.
The high quality facilities on offer in the Mid Ulster Air-Rifle Club have been widely praised by its members: Contained within the open-air grounds, bench rests are available, where members can then take aim at paper and knock-down targets at a range of up to 60 yards. These facilities are accessible through three main sections, allowing any shooter with any type of air-rifle to take advantage of the services on offer; Field Target (FT) at 12ft lbs, Open class for unlimited power air-rifles, and Hunter field target, which caters for any air rifle (but no parallaxing or dialling in).
History
The Mid Ulster Air-Rifle Club was founded in 1999 on a small half-acre plot of land, just outside Dungannon, along the main Dungannon-Cookstown road. After two years, the club had to change its venue due to building contracts. The club acquired grounds on an annual lease basis from the Washing Bay Gun Club, which worked well until a more suitable location was found at Loughhall Country Park. With the support of the Armagh District Council, the Mid Ulster Air-Rifle Club has gone from strength to strength, improving its facilities and building an honourable reputation throughout Northern Ireland.
